space to breathe

Whilst staying in one of our Lake District cottages you might like to participate in the wide variety of activities that are available to you.

This month (19th - 23rd May 2010) Keswick hosts its annual Mountain Festival. This 5-day event has been growing in popularity and scope since its inception. The speaker program this year includes Andy Cave, Leo Houlding, Andy Kirkpatrick and Sir Ranulp Fiennes. Activities include Triathlons, Wild Swim and 'Splash & Dash' - a 400m swim in the lake and then a dash around Crow Park. You can get more information on all the events at www.keswickmountainfestival.co.uk

Biking

The increase in off-road and forest cycle trails has led to the Lake District becoming a popular destination for those that enjoy exploring the landscape on two wheels. The larger towns usually have cycle hire facilities as well as providing specialist bike shops for repairs and servicing. Popular cycling locations for families include Whinlatter Forest to the north-west of Keswick and Grizedale Forest to the west of Windermere.

Harder challenges are available, for those with true grit, around Skiddaw or just to the summit and back down again!

Alternatively, cycle touring around the lanes, through the valleys and over the passes is an excellent way to experience the spectacular scenery of the Lake District.

Cycling Holidays - Cycle Breaks provide fully supported cycling holidays in England, France, Italy and Austria
